Lo Lo No Studio has been a pioneering force in ethical design since 2013, launching The E.M.G Initiative in response to the damaging humanitarian and environmental impacts of fast and luxury fashion production. E.M.G. championed collaboration, the repurposing of luxury waste materials, and fundraising through creative projects. Its Salvage T-shirts, most notably featured in Selfridges’ Bright New Things campaign, remain a hallmark of the initiative.

This work led to a lasting partnership with Traid, resulting in the Traidremade collection Rights of Massive. Lo Lo No Studio also represented Traid on a trip to Bangladesh, engaging with garment workers’ unions and visiting children’s centres funded by Traid and E.M.G.

The studio’s ethical design philosophy continues to thrive, particularly within costume design. Using surplus materials from Traid’s warehouses, Lo Lo No Studio repurposes textiles to create stunning, sustainable costumes.

In 2017, Lo Lo No Studio received funding from The Fashion Space Gallery at UAL to produce the film Who Are The SAVs?—a blend of journalistic and fictional storytelling that explores themes of consumption, human rights abuses, and the environmental harm caused by corporate practices and failing political agendas.
